August 29th:
In the past few months I have been a little late on returning my library books a few times. I think at the Mountain View Public Library, each day past its due date, the fee is something like a quarter. So, I think this year I've racked up probably two or three dollars in late fees. The strange thing is: every time I've returned my late books and gone to pay my dues, they told me I owed nothing. The first time, I figured that the librarian was just being nice to me, but since then it's happened two other times. I think that the library is messing up somehow and I actually DO owe those quarters. So, I'm at this fork in the road.
I owe probably $2.50, but they're not asking for it. But I still feel like I owe it. How can I give it to them without being awkward and saying, "No, really, I owe this money even if the computer doesn't say that I do!"? Is leaving it on the counter fine? Throwing it in the return machine thing the next time I return a book? Hiding it in... something? Haha, I'm being ridiculous. But I also don't like that I feel like I'm cheating one of my favorite institutions out of some possibly much-needed change.
So, that's a random little thing that's going on in my life. Haha!
On another note: For the past two weeks or so, I feel like I have done nothing but sit around and watch TV shows (which is pretty much what I HAVE been doing, so yeah). I think all the laziness and lack-of-seeing-other-humans is putting me in a bad mood. So, I'm gonna schedule my next week so much that I have to FIND the time to sit down and take a break. If you have an idea of something fun/interesting/new for me to do, hit me up (or invite me to something!). ;)
Keep it classy, people-who-probably-aren't-couch-potatoes!
Are you sure on the library's policy for that? You could be living in guilt for no reason :P But if you are correct, then I'm not sure how to solve your problems.
ReplyDeleteIdeas:
write letters for your friends in college ;)
learn parkour
go kayaking
go hiking
host a cheesy themed party
make cake
eat cake
:D
Haha, good point Anonymous(?)! I should look it up. But I know I've paid late fees in the past, so I don't see why they would change that now..
DeleteGood ideas. I actually thought about writing letters yesterday, but was too lazy. This is me. I am a lazy couch potato.
^parkour, for sure. haha, although i don't think intense physical exercise would be your choice of activity when walking accomplishes the exact same thing with less exertion, haha.
ReplyDeletealso, you could always just donate $2.50 to the library by putting it in that little coin collector thingy in the children's area. It's directly to the left once you enter the room (even before the librarian's desk).
I AM going walking at Rancho tomorrow morning with my mom, which I always enjoy. Makes me feel like I'm not 100% lazy, just 99.99%!!
DeleteAnd yeah.... I could... Good idea. I don't even remember that thing. I guess it's been a while since I've gone into the kids' section...
