As If We Never Said Goodbye

August 19th:

Today started at 5am when our power went out and I woke up because of the quiet in the house. Strange how my body knew something had changed... Well, I luckily was able to go back to sleep, so that's good.

I woke up again at 7am to pick up my old high school carpool to take them to their second monday of school at The King's Academy. A few alumni met for breakfast at Coco's near King's after dropping off their siblings, so I joined in on the fun (although I got my breakfast at Daily Donuts instead of Coco's).

After Coco's, I snuck into King's during Brunch to visit the two teachers I TA'd for last year: Mrs. K and Mrs. D. I also ran into Mr. Z who commented that he liked my natural hair color better (should I be insulted that he didn't compliment my orange hair, or flattered that he liked my natural color? oh well). It was so fun to see these teachers and some students who seemed super excited to see me as well! I also felt a little sneaky and rebellious by being on campus when I wasn't supposed to be - although seriously, the rule about returning seniors is super stupid.

The whole time I was at King's I had this song stuck in my head: "As If We Never Said Goodbye"

My two favorite renditions:

Such a nostalgic song.

On another note: three of my best friends left for college today and another leaves tomorrow. I got to see LARK one last time last night, but our parting didn't seem real. I thought I was in denial about them leaving me, but actually I think it's that it just hasn't hit me yet. I feel like when I truly realize they're gone and I won't see them for months THEN I'll break down and cry. For now... I just feel strange.
