August 1st:
I cannot believe it is August. Last year about now I was moaning about how summer is almost over, cramming in my summer homework, and buying MORE pens to add to my ever-growing collection. This summer is the beginning of a new August trend since my school year doesn't start until late September now that I will be attending university :3 I have about another two months until "summer" is over. Luckily I don't have summer homework (I know a few who have pre-college summer homework - EW!), and my college shopping has yet to commence. I'll probably begin actually preparing for college after my "semester" friends have left (colleges work on either semester or quarter system, semester schools start sooner and get out sooner, and vice versa for the quarter schools).
But back to August. I don't think I like August in general. Perhaps that'd because I'm so used to associating it with the end of summer and the beginning of school, but it could also have to do with the fact that I don't like how "August" sounds as a word. August. September sounds much better. November is even prettier. April is nice too. December is lovely. But August? No. Me no like. Sounds like "AW! GUST!" to me. Who cares about a gust (of wind?) anyway? I'm strange. But we already knew that.
Today is the first day of August. Août première. That's French for August first. I took french in high school and loved it, but most of it has fled my mind because I didn't take it my senior year. So, I had to use Google Translate. What can I say?
The first of every month makes me a little sad. It means that the last month is gone and I have a whole month more to fill. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it's kinda daunting.
Today is the day that I have lived the longest in my life. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
What are your thoughts on August? In particular, August first? :)
Keep it classy, readers~
